Honorary Consul at the Yugoslav Legation in Warsaw, was named Righteous Among the Nations on August 15, 2004 for his service to Polish Jews. Punčuh took over the businesses of several Jewish acquaintances to prevent their Aryanization and used money from those concerns to provide for Jews trapped in the Warsaw Ghetto, and to facilitate their escape. Successful escapees were hidden in a network of safe houses Punčuh created and he built a false wall in his own apartment to hide others. Punčuh was killed during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in 1944. Postwar, his widow returned the remaining assets of the Jewish-owned companies her husband had acquired.
